Fabulous Fabio

A couple of months ago I joined this awesome swap group called "Take it or Leave it Round Robin" on Ravelry. It's a slightly different twist on your classic swap. Rather than trading with just one partner, one moderator or "host" will start a box and 10 members will sign up to participate in the box. The host will then fill it with all sorts of awesome knit and crochet related goodies, and send it to the first person on the list. The one who recieves the box will take out a few items of their choosing, refill it with other new and wonderful goodies, and ship it to the next person on the list. This continues until the the last person sends the box back to the host and the box, in theory, will be filled with all sorts of new goodies! Pretty cool, huh? We like to name our boxes after Hollywood hotties and when it came time to vote for "F" I decided to throw Fabio in as a joke. Everyone seemed to think it was pretty funny and Fabio stuck. Yarnslave (our host) decided to go looking for a co-host so we could open the boxes to 20 people instead of just 10. Of course I volunteered for the job!

Now, as I'm sure you can imagine, with Fabio as our name a certain level of cheesyness was required. I think this is the most fun I've ever had in a forum thread! We have such a great group of swappers and they all have a wonderful sense of humor. If I need a smile I have to go check out what Fabio is up to ;-) Eventually it came time to send our boxes out into the world and Fabio Free For All (my box) went wild! His first stop was Spokane - not too far from home, but every little step counts. Just after Fabio left my door it occured to me that I should have crocheted a Fabio doll to travel with the box so we could document his travels. I emailed rachakno in Spokane and she held on to the box until I could get Fabio out to her. Last weekend I crocheted 2 Fabio dolls (one for each box) and shipped them off to rachakno and kokomimi in PA (she had the Footsie box). Free for all is in the green loincloth, Footsie in the blue (with matching socks!)

Stay tuned for updates as Fabio travels across the country! I'll be posting pictures and stories about his adventures :-)
